Client overview

Gruner AG, headquartered in Basel, is a Swiss engineering and planning company that has been supporting private and public builders in the fields of building construction, infrastructure, and

energy since 1862. With over 1,100 employees at more than 30 locations, Gruner is one of the leading companies in the Swiss construction industry.

The challenge

Faster EXPERTISE
Desired Performence

Gruner AG already used the BI software Qlik for reporting, which had proven effective in visualizing and analyzing project data. However, for planning, over 100 Excel sheets were used, resulting in high manual effort, susceptibility to errors, and lack of transparency. With over 6,000 ongoing projects and around 400 project managers, this system was no longer able to meet the requirements for precise and efficient planning. A scalable solution was necessary to automate decentralized planning and improve integration between reporting and planning.

The solution

" With the interplay of Jedox and Qlik, we were able to realize our ideal reporting environment for self-service data visualization, analysis, reporting and planning that flexibly grows with the tasks . "
Michael Städtler, BI Manager

To address these challenges, Gruner AG implemented a combined solution of Jedox for planning and Qlik for reporting. Jedox enabled seamless integration into the existing BI architecture   and provided a scalable platform

tailored to the complex requirements of project planning. Planning processes were automated, allowing project managers to directly access current data and evaluate it in real time.

The close integration of Qlik and Jedox created a continuous data basis that supports both precise planning and informed decisions at all company levels.

Future Outlook

In the coming years, the company plans to expand the platform to integrate additional analysis and planning functions. This will help promote data-based decisions even as complexity grows and ensure long-term competitiveness.
