Client overview

QIAGEN, headquartered in the Netherlands, is one of the leading providers of solutions in molecular diagnostics and biotechnology. The company serves over 50,000 customers worldwide, including researchers, forensic laboratories,

pharmaceutical companies, and healthcare providers. With over 5,000 employees at more than 35 locations, QIAGEN supports its customers in obtaining valuable molecular insights from biological samples.

The challenge

Faster EXPERTISE
Desired Performence

QIAGEN previously used internal data modeling in SAP as well as Excel interfaces and web reports. However, these systems were slow, required technical expertise, and did not offer the desired performance. There was a lack of an integrated reporting solution that provided transparency from top-level metrics to detailed levels. Therefore, the board demanded a more agile and powerful business intelligence solution that is flexible, web-enabled, and IBCS-compliant.

The solution

"In any case, the HICO-Group continues to accompany us on the journey, we are perfectly supported, and we can only reccomend them."
Thorsten Wiwias, Group Leader Digital Support Processes, MVV Netze GmbH

To meet the requirements, QIAGEN decided to use Qlik Sense in combination with the TRUECHART extension. This solution enables IBCS-compliant visualization of business data and offers high flexibility and performance.

With the support of the HICO-Group, a new data model and dashboards were developed, providing standardized KPI overviews as well as detailed insights into revenue, cost, and employee data. The data comes from  the SAP BW system and

is accessible through a user-friendly authorization concept. Within just six months, the solution was ready for productive use, allowing QIAGEN to implement efficient and transparent reporting.

Future Outlook

In the future, QIAGEN plans to further expand the Qlik application  landscape. This includes integrating Salesforce as an additional data source to enable performance reporting with leading indicators for sales.
