Diverse teams from all over the world is what HICO-Group is very proud of. This time we present to you a letter from the newest member of the HICO family and our South African team – Nyasha.
Hello guys!
My name is Nyasha, and currently I live in Johannesburg, although I am originally from Zimbabwe. I joined HICO-Group in January 2022. I got a call from an HR consultant who informed me about the position that was available at HICO. Shortly afterward I had an interview with Rachael from HR and I was intrigued, and here I am now!
So far, what I like the most about the company is the exposure to international standards of ways of doing work. I enjoy setting up the models and configuring all the necessary pieces together until you have a working model and thereafter seeing if it resolves all the client’s requests.
The greatest challenge is being very efficient and relevant in the work that we do. That involves being able to deliver projects in time and with the required quality, despite constraints in terms of efficiency, as well as being able to continuously learn and keep up with the changes in IT in terms of being relevant. I try to deal with these challenges by doing various training available, including Udemy, as well as in-house training material provided by the company. Compulsory migration to the cloud by some software providers when some of the clients are not ready is another challenge.
Earlier in my career before I joined HICO Group, I was in auditing and in one of my engagements, I was auditing a wine farm in Cape Town. This was an interesting job, where I learned about the whole process in which grapes end up as bottled wine. Something else about me – I am married and blessed with a 5-year-old daughter. I am mostly interested in sports (Tennis, Soccer, Motorsport) i.e. watching and participating when I can, however, I also love Science mostly Geology and Astronomy. I would love to visit the Galapagos Islands for Geology and History. In my spare time, I enjoy Go Karting. I am a big fan of the “Lord of the Rings” franchise. I would describe myself as a logical, patient, adventurous person, determined to solve challenges. This year I am looking forward to enriching my knowledge in Jedox and getting involved in more projects.
Finally, I would like to say, it is important to always try and be in control of one’s emotions and feelings so that we are free from the most common unnecessary mental stresses.
